WENDY COLLIVER

Wendy Colliver was born in Melbourne, Victoria. She studied with Berice Ireland, Maxwell Wilks, Margaret Cowling (drawing), but her principal mentor was the late Shirley Bourne OAM. She has been painting for the past four decades, participating in many group exhibitions, and had her first solo exhibition in Malvern in 1989.

She enjoys and appreciates all forms of art, drawing, sculpture, found objects, anything and everything and sees art subjects everywhere in daily life, but painting is the quintessence of her work. Being a typical Gemini she says she spreads herself too thinly and will never have enough time to achieve all she wants to in two lifetimes.

In her work Wendy is fascinated by light, tone, colour, texture and form and still takes into account two quotes from very early in her painting life from Shirley Bourne “painting is a long patience” and “brood over your work”. She sees herself as versatile.

Wendy paints what attracts her both plein air and in the studio, wherever the day and mood takes her. She paints from the heart with aestheticism whatever she likes and because she wants to without being caught up in art intellectualism. She is a rambler and a dreamer and feels she has only just begun.
